How to use the number fill-in maker

A number fill-in (also called a number fit or figure fit puzzle) works just like a word fill-in, but with numbers: the grid shows slots of different lengths, and your job is to fit the listed numbers into the right slots. The number list groups numbers by how many digits they have, and each number shows the number of its slot. Overlapping digits give you hints as you go.

The rules of number fill-in

  1. Number fill-in works just like a word fill-in, but the slots hold numbers instead of words.
  2. The grid is made of slots — runs of connected white squares — running across or down. Black cells are never filled.
  3. The number list shows every number you need, grouped by how many digits it has (3-digit, 4-digit, 5-digit), and each number shows the number of its slot.
  4. Each number fits exactly one slot, and every slot holds exactly one number. Match them by digit count and slot number.
  5. Where an across slot and a down slot cross, they share a digit — the digit you place must work for both numbers.
  6. Every number in the list is used exactly once; when the grid is full, the list is empty.
