Word Wheel Maker
How many words can you make? Each wheel shows nine letters — one in the middle — and every word you find must use that center letter. Pick a theme and a difficulty (Easy finds 3-letter words and up, Medium starts at 4 letters, Hard at 5), and a fresh wheel appears instantly, tuned so the letters make as many themed words as possible. Type words on screen to check them, or print the wheel for a pen-and-paper challenge.
How to use the word wheel maker
Pick a theme and difficulty, and a fresh wheel appears instantly — every wheel is different, and no two wheels on a page share the same letters.
- Difficulties: Easy counts words of 3+ letters (the classic game), Medium starts at 4 letters, and Hard only counts words of 5+ letters — shorter words are still on the wheel, they just don't score on the harder levels.
- Playing: make words of the difficulty's minimum length from the nine letters. Every word must include the center letter, and you can use each letter only as many times as it appears on the wheel.
- Checking: type a word and press Enter or “Check word” — if it's on the theme's word list it's marked found and added to your found list.
- Fair play: the generator picks letters that maximize how many qualifying words are possible — usually a dozen or more, from the shortest allowed words up to nine-letter ones.
- Printing: “Print / PDF” prints the wheel with room to write words — up to 2 per sheet. “Print Answers” prints the wheel with the full word list underneath.
The rules of word wheel
- Words must be at least the difficulty's minimum length — 3 letters on Easy, 4 on Medium, 5 on Hard.
- Every word must use the center letter at least once.
- A letter can be used only as many times as it appears on the wheel.
- Words are valid if they're real words from the theme's word list.
- Longer words score more bragging rights — the nine-letter word using every letter is the jackpot.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play word wheel?
Make as many words as you can from the nine letters around the wheel. Every word must use the center letter, be at least three letters long, and only use letters that appear on the wheel. Words are checked against the theme's word list.
Is the word wheel maker free?
Yes. Every generator on this site is completely free and unlimited. There is no account, no sign-up and no watermark, and you can generate as many wheels as you like.
Can I print the word wheel with the answers?
Yes. “Show Answers” lists every word that can be made from the wheel, and “Print Answers” prints the wheel with that word list underneath.
How many words are in each wheel?
The generator picks letter sets that make as many words as possible from the theme's word list — typically a dozen or more, from short three-letter words up to longer ones using all the letters.
